I appreciate Dr. Ejaz's professionalism and expertise in Sleep Medicine. His thoughtful approach and clear communication have been greatly valued. However, I was concerned to learn that the Atrium Sleep Medicine group had made a preemptive decision-prior to the FDA's public announcement regarding the approval of Zepbound for the treatment of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea-not to prescribe GLP-1 medications under any circumstances. While I understand the broader concerns surrounding the misuse and waste associated with GLP-1 therapies, I respectfully believe that such determinations should be made on a case-by-case basis. For patients who have exhausted other treatment options and may depend on a sleep medicine diagnosis to secure insurance coverage for GLP-1 therapy, a blanket policy could inadvertently limit access to potentially beneficial care. I urge the group to consider a more individualized approach that accounts for the unique clinical needs of each patient.
